Ana Elena Mallet is a curator specializing in modern and contemporary design. She is a Distinguished Professor at the School of Architecture, Art, and Design at the Tecnológico de Monterrey and a member of the Acquisitions Committee of the Department of Architecture and Design at MoMA. She is also a guest curator at MUAC/UNAM.
In 2024, she curated "Crafting Modernity. Design in Latin America 1940-1980" at MoMA, the first exhibition on the subject at a U.S. museum. She has collaborated with museums and collections such as M+ (Hong Kong), LACMA, The Art Institute of Chicago, MUCA-Roma, MUAC, and the Centro Cultural Universitario de Guadalajara. She has worked at the Museo Soumaya, Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, and as chief curator of MODO.
She directed the Roma Condesa Cultural Corridor (2009-2019) and has curated exhibitions in Mexico and abroad. She was a member of the Advisory Committee for the London Design Biennial (2016 and 2018).
She has published books on design, including "Life in Art. Writings of Clara Porset" (2020) and "Mexican Chair" (2017). She is currently working on two books on the history of design in Mexico and an exhibition on modern ceramics in Mexico.
