He is the executive director of El Museo del Barrio in New York. Charpenel is a member of the Latin American art board at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Unlike many collectors, Patrick does not keep his private collection for his own use, nor does he collect for personal enjoyment. Charpenel passionately believes that a collector's duty is to share his passion with those who do not have the opportunity to collect.
